Protection of Irregular Shapes
and Surfaces Projects
Irregular surfaces and shapes such as flanges, couplings, elbows, fittings and restraints present a challenge to corrosion protection of pipe infrastructure. Because such contours can trap and hold water if left exposed to the elements, achieving a long term, reliable seal without voids or gaps is imperative.
Project: PGE 12" Gas Line Mueller Valve, Mission & Delores, San Francisco, CA
Conditions: Enclosed vault that would not withstand sandblasting, requiring a solution that involved minimal preparation (hand tools only) of substrates.
Objective: Permanent corrosion protection of gas line and valve to be performed on busy street during business hours in less than 2 hour. Easy access for future inspection and maintenance.

Conditions: externally corroded valves, flanges, regulators located 10' below grade within confined, moist environment
